Frequently Asked Questions

1. I have a stall coming up, how do I list myself?

You will first need to register your stall. Then go to the market page on the appropriate date and click 'Join'. Your Profile card will then be visible on that market date's page.

2. Why are only Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane listed?

The Market Roll is still in its first stages. We will tackle the rest of Australia in the not too distant future.

5. What happens at the end of the 30-day Free Trial?

At the end of the 30 days, you will receive an email asking you to renew your Premium profile. The email will include a link to our Billing Information page. If you choose not to continue with a Premium profile, your profile will be automatically downgraded to a free Basic profile.

6. What types of payment do you accept?

We accept VISA and Mastercard.

7. Do I have to sign a long term contract?

No. The Market Roll is a pay-as-you-go service. There are no long-term contracts or commitments on your part. Please refer to our Terms of Use and Refund Policy for further information on refunds and cancellations.

8. Can I upgrade from a Basic profile to a Premium profile later on?

Yes. Click on the "Upgrade your profile to Premium" link on your profile page. All the information that you uploaded to your Premium profile will simply be activated again by clicking on the upgrade button.

9. Can I downgrade to the free Basic profile from the Premium profile?

Yes. If you downgrade from a Premium profile, all of the details of your Premium profile card - your 6 images, email and website address will be deactivated from public view. Your account will then display the limited information of a free Basic profile. If you choose to go back to the Premium profile at any point, your 6 images and contact details will still be saved in our system and will simply be re-activated.

Account Information

What do I do if I forgot my password or would like to change my password?

  1. Go to the Login page, click on the Lost your password? link.
  2. Enter your email address and click "Get New Password".
  3. An email will be sent to you with a link to create a new password.

Can I have more than one profile?

Yes. However, you will need to create each profile separately and pay the monthly fee for each profile separately.

How do I cancel my account?

If you no longer wish to have your stall profile displayed anywhere on The Market Roll website, send us an email with the subject, "Cancel my account".

Remember you can always downgrade a Premium profile to a Basic profile anytime. A Basic profile will remain in The Market Roll directory and is free forever.

What happens to my account profile after I cancel my account?

We will permanently remove your profile and delete all of your upload information from our system. If you decide to register again in the future, you will need to create a profile from scratch.

Can I cancel my account profile and create a new one?

Yes. You will have to cancel your account and re-register again with all your new details.

Can I re-open my account after it has been cancelled?

No. Because we delete all of your profile information from our system, you will have to re-register your details.

I don't have market stalls on all the time. Can I still register?

Of course. If you have some months where you are not attending any markets, you can still have a Premium profile or a free Basic profile in our Stall Directory. Visitors to The Market Roll will be able to view your profile at any time and seek you out at future markets or visit your website.

I don't live in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, but occasionally have stalls there. Can I still register?

Yes. Although at registration we require a city selection of Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. More cities will be added soon. We recommend selecting the city that you may attend more frequently.

I don't want to register for a Premium profile, can I just get a free Basic profile?

Everyone who registers will automatically receive the 30-Day Free Trial of a Premium profile. If you do not want to keep this profile at the end of the 30 days, your profile will automatically be downgraded to a free Basic profile. Can I change my market stall name after I have registered one already?

No. If you wish to change your market stall name, you will have to cancel your profile and register a new one.

I don't have a market stall name. Can I just use my name?

Yes. You can use any name you like as your market stall name.

Are there any restrictions on what my market stall name can be?

Your name can be whatever you like however, no apostrophes will be visible.

Why can't I log in?

Have you activated your account?
If your account is not active, you won't be able to login to The Market Roll. When you first register with The Market Roll, we send you an email verification email to make sure you own the address. You'll just need to click the verification link in the email to get started.

Are you mistyping your password?
You might be mistyping your password. Passwords are case-sensitive, so make sure the CAPS LOCK is off. If you still can't sign in, you can reset your password.

Have you tried accessing the site with a different web browser such as Mozilla Fire Fox, Apple Safari or Google Chrome?

I clicked the link in the first verification email, but my account isn't active. What now?

Send us an email and we will try to sort out what the issue is.

Where is my verification email?

Check your junk mail or spam folder, as the confirmation email may have ended up in there. To prevent this in the future, you can add contact@themarketroll.com.au to your address book or safe list. In extreme cases you might have to turn off spam filters.

Fees and Billing

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept VISA and MasterCard.

How am I billed for my Premium profile?

Your nominated credit card will be automatically debited every 30 days.

Are there any additional fees?

No. The only fee you will ever pay is your monthly $10 for a Premium profile. If you have registered for a Basic profile, you won't be charged a thing.

Markets

The market that I sell at is not in the Market Directory. What do I do?

Contact us and tell us the name of the market. We will then contact the market organiser and invite them to submit their market for listing.

How do I add my profile to a Market Page?

Go to the Market Directory and find your market. Click on the date that you'll be attending and click the blue 'Join' button. Your profile will instantly be added to that Market Page.

Can I leave a Market Page?

Once you have joined a market date, the 'Join' button will become a grey 'Leave' button. Simply click 'Leave' to remove your profile from that particular market page.

The market date of the market I will be attending is not on the Market page. How do I add myself to a date that is not listed?

The Market Roll lists the next 3 dates for each market, so you can join your market date when it falls within the next 3 market dates displayed.

For example, if the market dates listed are 1st Jan, 2nd Jan, 3rd Jan, and your market will be on the 4th Jan, your market date will be visible after 1st Jan has expired.

Why are only Markets in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane listed?

Basic and Premium profiles

What is a Basic profile?

A Market Roll Basic profile only displays a Stall Name, a logo and a tagline description of your stall. A Basic profile is completely free.

Why is it free?

The Basic profile is only a name listing. It does not display your contact details or any photos of your products.

With a basic profile you can still add yourself to an unlimited number of markets every month, but will be listed below all Premium profiles.

How do I get a free Basic profile?

Upon registration, all members will receive a Premium profile 30-Day Free Trial. At the end of the 30 days, if you choose not to renew, your Premium profile card will automatically be downgraded to a Basic profile. All your Premium profile information is stored in our database, so you can upgrade back to a Premium profile at any time in the future.

Can I upgrade to the Premium Profile later?

Yes. Click on the "Upgrade your profile to Premium" link on your profile page. All the information that you uploaded to your Premium profile will simply be activated again by clicking on the upgrade button.

Will the Basic profile always be free?

Yes. It's completely free. No fees will ever apply.

I only have a few market stalls per year, can I still register?

Are there any hidden costs with the Premium profile?

No. It's only the flat rate of $10 per month.

I sell at a couple of different markets per month, is the Premium profile more suitable for me?

Definitely! You obviously invest a lot of time in your market stalls, so you'll want to promote your stall as much as possible and give your potential customers all the information they need to see your products and contact you.

I don't sell at very many markets, is the Premium profile worthwhile?

Even if you don't sell at many markets, a Premium profile is a great form of promotion and advertising on the web for your products. If you are not part of any particular market, your profile will still be visible in our Stall Directory and in Google searches.

The Market Roll is search engine friendly, which means thousands of market-goers will still be able to find your profile and easily contact you at anytime.

What is the Profile page?

This page is for you, the market stall holder, to give potential customers a little more information about you and your product in 130 words or less. It will also feature your profile card and the markets you're attending, so market-goers can easily see what other markets you'll be at in the coming weeks.

How will visitors to The Market Roll find your stall holder Profile page?

When visitors to The Market Roll browse through market pages they will see your Profile Card. Clicking on your Profile Card will lead them to your Profile page where they can learn more about you and get in touch.

Will my profile page show up in search engine results?

Yes. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is a powerful process that can help improve the visibility of your Profile page in search engine results for search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo.

When shoppers are browsing the web, capturing their attention through search engines is a great way to bring more traffic to your Profile page and your market stall.

SEO can be complicated, but there are some basic tips that you can use to help improve your Profile page's SEO. Here is one of the most important;

A vital step in improving your Profile page's SEO is to use the best possible words to describe your business and products. Think like a shopper: what words would you search when looking for your products or business? Use these words when writing your stall tagline and 'About Me' section.

I'm finding it difficult to write the 'About Me' section. Can you help?

The About Me section on your profile page is where you tell the world, in 130 words or less, all about your fabulous creativity and your unique products. Remember to let your potential customers know exactly who you are, what you make and what makes you special.

If you've been practising your art and/or craft for a few years, it's a good idea to mention how long you've been doing so. This often represents knowledge in your field and great quality.

If you're just starting out in your craft, why not tell everyone what materials you use and any special features they may have. It's also valuable to mention what makes your product unique, whether it's interesting combinations of materials or fresh and innovative design.

I'll be at a craft market soon. Can I get The Market Roll promos to hand out there?

Yes. Please contact us and we'll get some stuff out to you.

Images

Do I need to have exactly 6 images of products?

No. You can add as many images of your work as you like however, the limit is 6. Remember that with the more images you upload, the better exposure you are giving your products and the better your profile will look.

How can I improve the quality of my product photos?

In short, your photos should clearly convey the shape, size, colour and texture of the work you are offering.

What image specifications do you accept?

Product and logo images are only accepted in .JPG format and must be under 2MB. We automatically crop your logo and photos to fit the page, but for optimal quality, we recommend:
900 pixels wide by 506 pixels high. If your images do not fit this aspect ratio (or shape), they will be automatically cropped to fit.

I don't have a logo. What should I put here?

If you don't have a logo, you can simply use one of your product photos as the logo or a photo of yourself. Logo dimensions should be 400 pixels x 400 pixels and under 2MB

Reporting A Problem

My profile is not showing up in the market page after I have clicked Join. What do I do?

Go to our contact page and send us an email with your stall name and page your having trouble with. We'll have one of the team sort out the issue for you.

I'm having trouble with Payment. Can you help?
