My biggest hurdle is motivation and momentum. I find working by myself it’s hard to seat on track and keep the focus on the business and where I want it to go. I find my own creativity can be very distracting as I tend to jump from task to task.

oh my goodness – all the topics to be covered at the artful business conference would help with many challenges i face having a small creative business. my most significant challenge though would be blogging for business. advice on all aspects of online marketing, blogging etc would be invaluable, particularly as i am in the early stages of renaming/ rebranding and updating my website.

I’d say getting my work ‘out there’…being creative in a seaside town is great, but I want to conquer the world!! Am currently doing an ecourse to set-up my online shop, so I’m getting there…slowly :-)

The biggest challenge is isolation of the home office, getting content marketing right and balancing life and your business so you still love it, you still feel passionate about and you don’t just get bogged down in details of just running a business. Staying creative, creating a scalable business and trying to grow sustainably are all the things I am learning but takes active learning. Thanks Amy

The biggest challenge in my craft business to date is breaking the customer’s mentality of ‘I must go to ABC or XYZ franchise’. I am the specialised corner shop to these franchises’ Coles and Woolies. I am trying to get the customers’ automatic response to go to these companies and turn it into support for me as a local and a local business rather than the shareholders behind the franchises.

The most obvious reason for this appears to be the fact that I cannot advertise on a national level via television and radio spots as these companies can and that the avenues of advertising that are open to me do not penetrate the market/reach the right customers or are presented in an arena that is saturated with similar types of businesses.

Our biggest challenge is to fit all of our diverse activities into a day. As a small art business it is a daily challenge to take all the different hats we have to wear; creating, marketing, business planning, product development, selling; on and off.As we are both life and business partners working from home we struggle to create parametres around our work and home life.
